Barton, North Greenville Advance to Conference Carolinas Men’s Soccer Developmental Championship Final

BRISTOL, Tenn./MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - Barton and North Greenville won their respective Conference Carolinas Men’s Soccer Developmental Championship Preliminary Round brackets to advance to the championship final on Monday, Oct. 24.
 
In the King bracket, Erskine earned the win over the host Tornado in the first game of the championship as the Flying Fleet won in penalty kicks, 5-4, after playing to a 1-1 tie in double overtime. Erskine would face North Greenville in the preliminary round championship after the Crusaders defeated Converse, 2-1. In the third-place contest, King and Converse were even at 1-1 at halftime, but the Valkyries outscored the Tornado 4-1 over the final 30 minutes to earn the 5-2 victory. In the preliminary round bracket final, North Greenville held a 3-0 lead at the half and added another tally in the second half to book its ticket to Wilson, North Carolina for the championship final.
 
In the Mount Olive bracket, the host Trojans scored first and led 2-0 in the second half, but Barton scored three goals to take the first game, 3-2. Mount Olive bounced back to take the second match of the day, 3-1, over Belmont Abbey. In the third and final game of the bracket, Barton and Belmont Abbey played to a scoreless tie in double overtime which gave Barton a fourth point in the bracket and secured them a place in the championship final next week.
 
Barton will host North Greenville in the championship final on Monday, Oct. 24 in Wilson, North Carolina at 6 p.m. Barton was the predetermined host of the championship final.
