Anna Grossheim of UNC Pembroke Named United Soccer Coaches Division II Women’s Soccer College Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Anna Grossheim of UNC Pembroke is one of eight student-athletes to be honored as United Soccer Coaches Player of the Week, the United Soccer Coaches announced on Wednesday, Oct. 26.
 
The Conference Carolinas women’s soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 23, Grossheim tallied three goals and added four assists as the Braves posted a perfect 2-0-0 week on the pitch. The junior midfielder from Garner, North Carolina attempted five shots and connected on both of her shots on goal in the 5-0 win over Barton on Oct. 18. Grossheim wrapped up the regular season with a career-best 11 shots (five on goal) at Southern Wesleyan, scoring once and recording a school record four assists in the win over the Warriors on Oct. 22. She finished the regular season as the conference leader in points (32), assists (10), shots (92), and shots on goal (42). She is second in goals (11).

Grossheim is the fourth Braves student-athlete to earn national honors and the second this year, joining Mercy Bell who earned the honor on Sept. 22. 

Grossheim and the Braves earned the No. 3 seed in the Conference Carolinas Women’s Soccer Championship and will host the winner of No. 6 Emmanuel and No. 7 Barton on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. The Lions (8-8-1, 7-5 CC) will host the Bulldogs (5-7-2, 5-5-2 CC) in the first round on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.
