Lander Picked to Repeat as South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Men’s Wrestling Champions
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Defending champion Lander has been picked to defend its title in the 2022-23 South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Men’s Wrestling Preseason Poll, the conference unveiled on Oct. 28, 2022.
The Bearcats received eight of the 11 first-place votes and 98 total points to claim the poll’s top spot, while 2021-22 NCAA Super-Region 2 champion Newberry was a close second with 91 points and two first-place votes. Belmont Abbey was picked third with 77 points and the remaining first-place nod while UNC Pembroke collected 75 points to claim the fourth spot. King (54) edged Mount Olive (52) to round out the top five.
Limestone (48) was seventh in the preseason poll followed by Emmanuel (41), Coker (38), Lincoln Memorial (17) and Emory & Henry (14).
The preseason poll was voted on by the league’s head coaches.
