Six Conference Carolinas Programs Ranked in Latest Update
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Conference Carolinas has had a successful fall campaign with six teams ranked in their respective national and/or regional polls in the sports of men’s and women’s soccer and men’s and women’s cross country.
In the eighth edition of the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Poll, Converse slipped two spots to No. 5 in the Southeast Region with an 11-1-4 overall record and an 8-0-3 league mark. While the Valkyries captured the Conference Carolinas regular season title, Francis Marion finished second and joined the regional ranks for the first time at No. 10 with an 8-5-5 record overall and 7-2-3 in conference play. On the women’s side of the pitch, UNC Pembroke remained at No. 5 in the Southeast Region at 14-2-1 (10-1-1 CC) and North Greenville, the Conference Carolinas regular season champion, also held their place at No. 10 with a 12-3-1 overall record (11-1 in league play). In addition to the USC poll, the NCAA released the second regional rankings of the season and UNC Pembroke was ranked ninth in the women’s Southeast Region rankings. Read more about the women’s poll here.
In the gym, the NCAA released the first regional rankings of the season for women’s volleyball and Emmanuel and UNC Pembroke are under consideration for postseason play in the Southeast region. Read the story here.
On the cross country course, three Conference Carolinas programs were ranked in the men’s United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Southeast Region rankings. UNC Pembroke led the way as the Braves climbed four spots to No. 4 in the poll while Emmanuel fell two spots to No. 7 and Belmont Abbey slipped one spot to No. 8. Converse women’s cross country jumped into the USTFCCCA women’s rankings for the first time this season at No. 8 while UNC Pembroke slipped two spots to No. 9. The women’s national poll is here while the regional rankings are available
