Conference Carolinas Unveils 2022 Women’s Soccer All-Conference Honors
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Conference Carolinas has unveiled its 2022 women’s soccer all-conference honors as chosen by the league’s head coaches.
The 2021 Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year, Anna Grossheim of UNC Pembroke was named the Offensive Player of the Year. Grossheim gives the Braves back-to-back Offensive Players of the Year after her teammate Rilee Seering won the honors last season. A junior from Garner, North Carolina, Grossheim tied for the Conference Carolinas lead in goals in conference play with nine and led all players in shots (72), shots on goals (32), assists (10) and points (28). Overall, Grossheim led the league in shots (92), shots on goal (42), assists (10) and points (32) while finishing tied for second in goals with 11 in 17 games.
A senior from Greer, South Carolina, Ansley Robinson of North Greenville earned the first Defensive Player of the Year honor in program history since the award began in 2012. The leader on the backline for the Crusaders, Robinson led a defense that allowed five goals in 12 conference games, a .42 average per contest. Overall, Robinson helped NGU allow just 15 goals in 16 games for a .94 average per contest.
Southern Wesleyan defender/forward Karla Gordon became the first in program history to be named Freshman of the year since the award began in 1995. A native of Lexington, South Carolina, Gordon finished in the top-10 in goals in conference games with six and was top-15 in shots (29) and shots on goal (16). For the season, Gordon finished 11th in goals with seven in 15 games and 11th in points with 15 on seven goals and one assist.
North Greenville head coach Andy Robinson captured his fourth (2017, 18, 21) Coach of the Year honor in his ninth season on the sidelines for the Crusaders. Picked second in a close preseason poll by the league head coaches, Robinson guided North Greenville to the regular season championship for the first time with an 11-1 league mark and a 12-3-1 record overall.
