Katie Kemp of Francis Marion Named Women’s Volleyball Freshman of the Month

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Katie Kemp of Francis Marion has been selected as the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Month for women’s volleyball for August/September.
 
A 5-foot-8 freshman outside hitter, Kemp led the Patriots to eight wins on the month including three league victories as she averaged 2.57 kills and 1.17 digs per set with 14 aces and 13 blocks over 14 matches. A native of Plano, Texas, Kemp posted seven matches of double figure kills and two double-doubles (kills/digs) while tallying just one service error in 50 attempts on the month. She currently ranks 14th in Conference Carolinas in kills per set, 17th in points per set and 22nd in hitting percentage.

Her three best matches came Sept. 20-24 as the Patriots went 2-1 in three league matches. Kemp tallied 10 kills and 12 digs with two aces and a block in a five-set win over Barton on Sept. 20. In a five-set loss to Mount Olive on Sept. 23 Kemp collected a season-high 16 kills only to match that number in a three-set win over Chowan on Sept. 24 to go with a season-best 13 digs and three service aces.
