GREENVILLE, S.C. – Lauren Beatty of Converse has been selected as the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Month for women's cross country for September.

Beatty has gotten off to a fast start in her collegiate career as a Valkyrie. In her first race of the season, the Winchester, Virginia native finished 12th overall, the top NCAA Division II runner, at the USC Upstate Eye Opener with a time of 19:29 in the 5k. At the Converse Kick-off, the freshman placed sixth overall in the 6k with a time of 22:55.4. In her final event of the month, Beatty placed fifth in the 5k at the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic to earn Conference Carolinas women's cross country Runner of the Week honors. She posted a time of 18:51.3 which was a personal-best for her and the second-ever sub-19 minute 5k in Converse history.

Along with her individual success, her times have helped the Valkyries be ranked eighth in the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association poll back-to-back weeks.
