Conference Carolinas Tournament Champion UNC Pembroke Bows Out of NCAA Tournament

SALISBURY, N.C. - Conference Carolinas Tournament champion UNC Pembroke had its impressive 2022 campaign come to a close in a narrow 1-0 loss to Flagler on the campus of Catawba on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022. 

The sixth seed in the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Southeast Regional, UNC Pembroke and Flagler played extremely close throughout the entire match. In fact, third-seeded Flagler held just a slight 13-12 advantage in shots. UNC Pembroke had a big advantage in corner kick opportunities in the match at 7-3. 

The lone goal in the match came in the 30th minute when Moa Arlebo scored for Flagler. In the second half, UNC Pembroke had more of the run of play, but Flagler was able to hold the Braves off. 

UNC Pembroke ends a 2022 season in which it claimed its second straight Conference Carolinas Tournament title with a 16-3-2 overall record. The NCAA Tournament loss to Flagler snapped an eight-match winning streak for the Braves. UNC Pembroke's 16 wins this season is the second-most in the 22-year history of the women's soccer program.
