Mount Olive and North Greenville Advance to Semifinals at Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Championship

PEMBROKE, N.C. - East second-seeded Mount Olive and West second-seeded North Greenville advanced to the semifinals of the 2022 Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Championship with quarterfinal wins on Friday, Nov. 11 at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court inside the English E. Jones Center.
Mount Olive will next face West top-seeded Emmanuel at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, while North Greenville will battle East top-seeded UNC Pembroke immediately following at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Quarterfinal #1 - Mount Olive 3, King 1
Mount Olive hit .294 en route to a 25-15 set one victory. Amara Eziakonwa paced the Trojans in the first set with four kills and three digs. She hit .571 in the opening set. King responded in the second set by collecting a 25-20 win to even the match at 1-1. Mount Olive hit .216 as a team in set No. 2. King had three total team blocks in the second set.
Mount Olive was able to turn things back in its favor in the third set with a 25-16 victory. The Trojans hit an impressive .433 as a team in the third set. Mount Olive would then hold off King in the fourth set with a 25-22 win to take the match at 3-1.
The Trojans finished the match hitting .278 as a team, while also limiting King to just .083 hitting.
Ashlyn Stone of Mount Olive tied Hailee Blakenship of King for tops in the match with 17 kills. Neza Pec collected 19 digs in the match for the Trojans, while Blankenship also had 12 digs to end the year with a double-double.
Quarterfinal #2 - North Greenville 3, Francis Marion 0
North Greenville began the match by hitting .421 in set No. 1 to take an early 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-17 win in the opening game. The early part of the second set belonged to Francis Marion with the Patriots forcing North Greenville to take a time out just 10 points into the set. Down 6-4 to Francis Marion, North Greenville responded by scoring six of the next seven points to lead 10-7. North Greenville would never look back from there in its eventual 25-18 win in the second set.
The Crusaders would go on to secure the match victory with a 25-20 win in the third set.
Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Year Abigail Durham led North Greenville with 17 kills, five digs and two blocks. Emilie Allen had 10 kills for North Greenville. Kalee Peter finished with nine kills to lead Francis Marion.
North Greenville finished the match hitting .308 as a team.
