UNC Pembroke Earns No. 7 Seed in NCAA Southeast Regional

GREENVILLE, S.C. – UNC Pembroke won the 2022 Conference Carolinas Women’s Volleyball Championship, their first conference title in 29 years, and received the automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Division II Women’s Volleyball Championship where they will face Southeast Region No. 2 seed Augusta on Friday, Nov. 18 at 2:30 p.m. inside Wingate’s Cuddy Arena. 
 
The Braves are 21-13 on the season, their second straight with 20-plus victories. The Pembroke, North Carolina program is making its first trip to the NCAA Tournament.
 
Augusta fell in the Peach Belt Tournament semifinals. The Jags are 24-7 on the season and are 20-6 all-time against the Braves which includes a 3-2 win in Augusta, Georgia earlier this year.
 
The UNCP-Augusta winner will square off against third-seeded Carson-Newman (27-5) or sixth-seeded Flagler (18-9) in the second round. In the other part of the bracket No. 1 Wingate (29-2), the Southeast Regional host, faces No. 8 USC Aiken (19-13) and No. 4 Anderson (21-7) faces No. 5 Lander (20-9). 
 
The 64-team field includes 23 automatic qualifiers and 41 at-large selections.  The eight regional tournaments will be held on campus sites Nov. 18-20. The winners of the eight regional tournaments will advance to the Elite Eight to be held Dec. 1-3 at the Royal Brougham Pavilion on the Seattle Pacific University campus.
