Four Conference Carolinas Programs, Two Student-Athletes Ranked in Latest Update

GREENVILLE, S.C. – After a fall that saw several teams compete in regional action with volleyball and cross country regionals set to begin this weekend, the first winter sport rankings are out and Conference Carolinas has a strong early season presence in men’s basketball, tennis and swimming and diving.

The NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors Association (D2SIDA) released the first regular season media poll for men’s basketball on Nov. 14 and UNC Pembroke moved up four spots to No. 10 with 191 votes. The Braves are ranked third in the Southeast Region with 42 points while Emmanuel is tied with North Georgia for 10th in the region with four points. The complete polls are available here.

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released the NCAA Division II Men’s ITA Collegiate Tennis National and Regional Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point which ranks the top 50 singles players and top 25 doubles teams nationally and the top 20 singles players and top 10 doubles teams regionally. In the Southeast Region Xaveam Van Wijk of Belmont Abbey is ranked No. 13 in singles and eighth in doubles with his partner Nicholas Cary. The ITA rankings are available here.

The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) released the first edition of the 2022-23 Division II Swimming & Diving Top 25 Dual Meet Rankings and the Emmanuel men came in at No. 21 with 64 points while the Lions’ women’s team received votes (14).
