UNC Pembroke Ends Historic Season in NCAA Southeast Regional

WINGATE, N.C. – UNC Pembroke, the seventh seed in the NCAA Division II Women’s Volleyball Southeast Regional, saw its historic season come to an end on Friday afternoon in a 3-1 loss to No. 2 seed Augusta inside Cuddy Arena on the campus of Wingate University.
The Braves won the program’s first conference championship in 29 years and first Conference Carolinas title since 1991 to earn the program’s first-ever NCAA tournament berth.
The resilient UNCP program dropped the opening set, 25-18, before taking set two 25-19 thanks to a late rally. The Braves fell late in set three, 25-22, and dropped the final set 25-15.
Vanja Przulj and Shanna Skryd paced the Braves’ attack with 13 kills each while Przulj hit .250 and added 14 digs. Skryd added nine digs while Morgan Gibbs posted a team-high 19 digs and 36 assists. Brianna Warren paced UNC Pembroke at the net with four of the team’s 14 blocks. Augusta was led by Madelyn Eden who tallied 11 kills with a .364 attack percentage. The Jags tallied 18 blocks and nine service aces in the win.
The Braves ended the year 21-14 while the Jags improved to 25-7 and will face sixth-seeded Flagler on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 5 p.m.
