Oriana Izarra of Mount Olive Named Women's Tennis Freshman of the Month

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Oriana Izarra of Mount Olive has been selected as the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Month for women's tennis for October. 
 
A 5-foot-3 native of Valencia, Venezuela, Izarra posted a 2-0 record at No. 2 doubles, while registering a 1-1 mark in the third slot in singles on the month. The Trojans played in a pair of dual matches this fall against regional finalists from the Atlantic and Southeast. 

On Oct. 8 versus Newberry, Izarra and Ingrid Montserrat earned a 7-6 (7-5) victory at No. 2 doubles over Rosie Hartfield and Sofia Cardenas. Izarra lost a 7-6, 6-3 match against Cardenas in third singles. On Oct. 22 against Charleston, Izarra and Montserrat posted a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles versus Prinkle Singh and Sara Martinez. Later that day, Izarra secured a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 3 singles.
