Conference Carolinas has Six Student-Athletes Named USTFCCCA Cross Country All-Region
NEW ORLEANS, La. - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2022 NCAA Division II Cross Country All-Region honorees and Conference Carolinas had six student-athletes recognized.
Emmanuel and UNC Pembroke each had two honorees while Southern Wesleyan and Lees-McRae each had one.
The Braves’ selections are the Conference Carolinas Men’s and Women’s Runners of the Year Joshua Chepkesir and Jackline Kosgei. Chepkesir won the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional on Saturday to earn a spot in the NCAA Division II National Championship on Friday, Dec. 2. Kosgei will join him at Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Washington as she finished fifth at the regional to earn a national championship spot.
Brandon Martin, the Conference Carolinas Men’s Cross Country Championship runner-up and teammate Jordan Robertson represented the Lions. Conference Carolinas men’s cross country Freshman of the Year Ronan O’Neill represented Southern Wesleyan while Deanna Betzer earned all-region honors for Lees-McRae.
A total of 200 men from 81 different programs and 200 women from 85 different programs earned the distinction of All-Region by virtue of a top-25 finish at one of the eight regional sites this past weekend. Only athletes from USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards. The complete list of awardees is available here.
