Joshua Chepkesir of UNC Pembroke Named USTFCCCA Southeast Region Male Athlete of the Year

NEW ORLEANS, La.  - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2022 NCAA Division II Cross Country regional awards and Joshua Chepkesir of UNC Pembroke was named Southeast Region Male Athlete of the Year. 

Chepkesir earned the honor for the third time in his decorated career having also won in 2018 and 2019. The two-time defending Conference Carolinas men’s cross country champion also earned his third NCAA Southeast Region championship in 2022 and is a four-time USTFCCCA All-Southeast Region honoree. 

The redshirt senior from Eldoret, Kenya holds the six-fastest 8K times in UNC Pembroke history and the second-fastest 10k time. He will continue his quest for a national championship on December 2 when he travels to Seattle, Washington, for the NCAA Division II National Championships at Chambers Creek Regional Park.
