Anna Grossheim of UNC Pembroke, Harri Lovett of Chowan Named D2 CCA All-America
GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2 CCA) released its 2022 All-America men’s and women’s soccer teams on Wednesday and Anna Grossheim of UNC Pembroke and Harri Lovett of Chowan earned laurels.
Grossheim, the Conference Carolinas women’s soccer Player of the Year, was named to the first team for the second consecutive season, one of just two honorees to do so in 2022. The junior forward for the Braves paced Conference Carolinas in five offensive statistical categories, while also ranking second in one other. The Garner, North Carolina native led the league in shots (113), shots on goal (54), goals (14) and assists (11), and shared the league perch with five game-winning goals, on the way to a career-best 39 points. She scored at least one point (goal or assist) in 12 outings this season, including multi-score efforts against Converse, Emmanuel, Barton and North Greenville. She was named United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week on October 26 as well.
Lovett, a graduate student from Wrexham, Wales, collected Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year and Conference Carolinas First Team honors this season. The defender earned second team All-America honors as he led Conference Carolinas in assists with 11 and ranked in the top-five in the NCAA in assists per game. Lovett finished the season with 36 assists and is tied for the most assists in Division II as an active player.
Communication professionals from NCAA Division II schools and conferences selected the three D2 CCA All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with all first-team all-region picks advancing to the national ballot. A total of 39 student-athletes of both genders filled out the six teams.
The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education.
The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
