GREENVILLE, S.C. – The 2022 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships get underway tomorrow, Dec. 2 with 34 teams from each gender as well  as 25 men’s individuals and 27 women. Conference Carolinas has two student-athletes competing in the event.
 
Joshua Chepkesir and Jackline Kosgei of UNC Pembroke will represent Conference Carolinas as individual qualifiers. The duo each earned automatic qualification at the Southeast Regional on Nov. 19. 
 
Chepkesir, a redshirt senior from Eldoret, Kenya, is making his third straight national championship appearance after he won the Southeast Regional with a time of 31:04.94. The two-time NCAA All-American and back-to-back Conference Carolinas men’s cross country Runner of the Year, is looking for his first national championship. 
 
Kosgei, a sophomore also from Eldoret, Kenya, will be making her first national championship appearance after she finished fifth at the Southeast Regional with a time of 22:18.19. The two-time Conference Carolinas women’s cross country Runner of the Year and 2021 women’s cross country Freshman of the Year, Kosgei is the first individual NCAA qualifier in women’s program history while the women’s team earned a bid in 2012. 
 
The championships will be held at Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Washington. Seattle Pacific University will serve as the host. The men’s race will begin at 1 p.m. Eastern, followed by the women’s race at 2:15 p.m. Eastern.
