BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. – Three-seed UNC Pembroke became the fifth program to win back-to-back Conference Carolinas Women’s Soccer Tournament Championships with a 3-1 victory over top-seed North Greenville on Sunday, Nov. 6 at MacPherson Stadium at Truist Soccer Complex at Bryan Park in Browns Summit.

UNC Pembroke saw several opportunities turned away in the opening half, six shots on goal, but scored first as Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Year Anna Grossheim drilled home a free kick from midfield in the upper right corner of the goal for the 1-0 lead in the 12th minute.

It was a busy second half that began with Grossheim scoring from the top of the box as she shot back across the frame to the lower left corner for the 2-0 lead in the 47th minute. Five minutes later, the Crusaders got on the board off a set piece from the corner as Aubrey Kramer headed home the service from Molly Platt to cut the lead in half. Then, in the 72nd minute, the Braves added some insurance off another set piece, this time from the corner, as Anna Grossheim sent a service into the box that was deflected into the net for what proved to be the final goal.

The Braves finished with 29 shots, 13 on goal, while the Crusaders tallied 18 shots, seven on frame. The Braves had a 7-2 edge in corner kicks and UNCP goalkeeper Chiara Coppin made six saves in the contest while North Greenville’s keeper, Samantha Montgomery, made a career-high 11 saves in the loss.
