Abigail Durham of North Greenville and Kaylee Gillespie of Francis Marion Named Women’s Volleyball Weekly Award Winners
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Abigail Durham of North Greenville and Kaylee Gillespie of Francis Marion were selected as the Conference Carolinas weekly award winners for women’s volleyball for the week ending Nov. 6.
Durham was selected as the Player of the Week, while Gillespie earned Specialist of the Week accolades.
A 6-foot right-side from Easley, South Carolina, Durham led North Greenville to a sweep of King in the team’s regular-season finale on Tuesday, Nov. 1. The senior collected a match-high 19 kills and hit .394 with nine digs, one service ace and one block. She finished the regular-season leading the conference in total kills (380) and was second in kills per set (3.58).
A native of Pickens, South Carolina, Gillespie recorded 41 assists, five digs, four blocks and a kill in a sweep of Chowan in the Patriots’ regular-season finale on Tuesday, Nov. 1. The 5-foot-9 junior setter directed the FMU offense to a .379 attack percentage, which is the highest single-match figure in 11 seasons for the Patriots. Gillespie finished the regular-season third in Conference Carolinas in total assists (1,001) and assists per set (9.72).
