Roberts is the second Lion to ever win the Defensive Player of the Year honor (Aysha Avery, 2018) and the third player in league history to win in back-to-back seasons dating back to 2012. The senior middle blocker from Rome, Georgia averaged 85 total blocks (1.47 per set) and hit .422 in league contests, both conference-best marks in 57 league sets. Overall, Rodriguez dug 634 balls in 98 sets for a 6.47 average this season, both conference-best marks. She is the first women's volleyball player from Chowan to earn a major postseason honor.

In his fifth year as the head coach for the Lions, Friddle earned Coach of the Year honors for the first time as he led the Lions to their third division title in five seasons as the top-seed in the west division. Emmanuel is 23-7 overall, 17-1 in league play and earned a regional ranking for the first time in program history at No. 8.
