UNC Pembroke Duo Compete at NCAA Division II National Championships
UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – The UNC Pembroke duo of Joshua Chepkesir and Jackline Kosgei each competed at the 2022 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Cross Country National Championships at Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Washington on Friday.
Chepkesir, a two-time NCAA All-American and fifth-year senior from Eldoret, Kenya, got the day started in the men’s race as he finished 81st in the 262-runner field with a time of 31:01.7 which is tied for the fifth-fastest 10K time in UNCP men’s cross country history and his second-fastest national championship time.
Kosgei, a sophomore from Eldoret, Kenya, made her national championship debut with a time of 22:48.7 which placed her 162nd in the 263-runner field. Her time is also the 15th-fastest 6K in UNCP women’s cross country program history.
