Rankings Update: Conference Carolinas Ranks 14 Institutions in National and Regional Polls

GREENVILLE, S.C. – As the weather begins to warm in the Southeast, Conference Carolinas institutions continue to hold strong in national and regional polls. 

The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association released their latest Division II Top 25 regular-season poll of the 2021-22 season and Barton cracked the top 10 as they ranked No. 8 with 380 points. In the Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) Women’s Basketball poll, Barton climbed six spots to No. 8 in the national poll with 287 points and moved into the top spot in the Southeast Region with 55 points and three first-place votes. Mount Olive ranks ninth in the region with 16 points while Chowan is 10th with four. UNC Pembroke also received votes in the region. The WBCA poll is available here while the D2SIDA polls are here.

In the latest edition of the National Association of Basketball Coaches Top 25 poll, UNC Pembroke came in at No. 9 with 257 points. In the D2SIDA Men’s Basketball poll UNC Pembroke was also ninth with 258 points in the national rankings and slipped to No. 2 in the Southeast Region with 55 points and two first-place votes. Emmanuel joined the region rankings at No. 10 with eight points while Southern Wesleyan received votes. The NABC poll can be found here while the D2SIDA polls can be found here

In the latest Off the Block Division II Men’s Volleyball Coaches Poll released this week Mount Olive remained No. 5 with 68 points. Belmont Abbey is seventh with 46 points while North Greenville, Barton, Erskine and King received votes. The Off the Block poll is available here.

On the track, the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the latest regional Track & Field Rating Index (TFRI) and on the women’s side six Conference Carolinas institutions found themselves inside the top-10 led by Mount Olive at No. 4 with 233.43 points. UNC Pembroke was sixth (170.87), Southern Wesleyan was seventh (155.54), Emmanuel was eighth (109.71), Converse was ninth (93.39) and North Greenville was 10th (82.58). Lees-McRae was 13th (70.49), King was 19th (23.68), Erskine was 20th (16.17) and Barton was 24th (2.29). 

In the men’s TFRI, Mount Olive ranked fourth with 248.10 points, UNC Pembroke was eighth with 124.28 points and North Greenville was 10th with 92.49 points. Emmanuel was 12th with 83.87 points while Lees-McRae was 14th (44.44), Southern Wesleyan was 16th (28.63), Barton was 17th (20.59), Erskine was 20th (6.69), Converse was 21st (4.06), and King was 23rd (2.50). In the latest Golfstat rankings, the Belmont Abbey men’s team ranks 15th while Erskine is 18th and Barton is 25th. The full rankings are available here.

The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA)/Dynamic 2022 Men’s Coaches Division II Poll was released for the week of Feb. 14 and Mount Olive remained 14th with 143 points while Belmont Abbey and North Greenville each received votes. The full poll is available here

The National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) released its January poll and Lincoln Memorial represented Conference Carolinas in the poll at No. 21 with 185 points. The full poll can be read here

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released the first regular season poll of the year and Francis Marion, who is 5-0 on the season, received votes in the national poll. In the Southeast Region, FMU led all league programs at No. 6 with 28 points while Belmont Abbey and Mount Olive tied for seventh with 27 points and North Greenville was ranked 10th with 24 points.
