Record-Breaking Opening Day at 2022 Conference Carolinas Swimming Championships
KINGSPORT, Tenn. – It was a record-breaking opening day at the 2022 Conference Carolinas Swimming Championships at the Kingsport Aquatic Center on Wednesday, Feb. 16.
The first day opened with UNC Pembroke’s Nathalia Silva setting a new conference championship record in the women’s 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:34.10.
The records kept falling in the women’s 200 yard medley relay with UNC Pembroke setting a new conference championship record with a time of 1:45.74.
In the men’s 800 yard freestyle relay, Emmanuel set the new conference championship standard with a time of 6:46.02.
UNC Pembroke is in first in the women’s team standings with 126 points after the first day. Emmanuel is right behind with 116 points. In the men’s standings, Emmanuel leads with 117 total points. Barton is in second with 91 points.

The second day of the scheduled four-day Conference Carolinas Swimming Championships are slated for Thursday, Feb. 17. The preliminaries will get underway at 10 a.m. on Thursday with the finals scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
The preliminaries and finals each day will be streamed live on the Conference Carolinas Digital Network at
ConferenceCarolinasDN.com. Commentary will be provided for the finals each day, but the preliminaries will just be video with no sound. Conference Carolinas will also stream the senior festivities live at 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18.
