Gregory Torres of North Greenville and Henrik Westhoff of Emmanuel Pick Up Men’s Volleyball Weekly Honors
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Gregory Torres of North Greenville and
Henrik Westhoff of Emmanuel have been chosen as the weekly award winners for Conference Carolinas men’s volleyball for the week ending Feb. 20.
Torres was tabbed as the Player of the Week, while Westhoff was selected as the Specialist of the Week.
A freshman outside hitter from Caguas, Puerto Rico, Torres finished North Greenville’s two conference wins last week with 36 kills, 11 digs, seven blocks and two service aces. Torres hit an impressive .309 in the two North Greenville conference victories. In North Greenville’s 3-0 conference road win at King on Feb. 15, Torres had 18 kills and five digs. Torres followed up that performance by posting 18 kills to go with seven blocks, six digs and two aces in a 3-1 conference victory at Lees-McRae on Feb. 19.
A junior setter from Bocholt, Germany, Westhoff closed out Emmanuel’s two matches last week with 81 assists, 10 digs, eight blocks and three aces. In Emmanuel’s conference match at Erskine on Feb. 15, Westhoff had 37 assists, eight blocks, seven digs and two aces in four sets. Westhoff finished with 44 assists, three digs and an ace in Emmanuel’s four-set win over Edward Waters on Feb. 18.
