Spencer Levi of UNC Pembroke and Trevon Spencer of Barton Collect Men’s Basketball Weekly Honors
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Spencer Levi of UNC Pembroke and Trevon Spencer of Barton have collected the weekly honors for Conference Carolinas men’s basketball for the week ending Feb. 20.
Levi was selected as the Player of the Week for the second time this season, while Spencer was chosen as the Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season.
In an undefeated week for the ninth-ranked Braves, Levi averaged 21.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game. He finished the week shooting an impressive 82 percent (18-of-22) from the field. In UNC Pembroke’s 101-84 league win over Mount Olive on Feb. 16, Levi had a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds. He also had three assists and one block in addition to shooting 92 percent (12-of-13) from the field. The redshirt senior forward from St. Louis closed out UNC Pembroke’s 91-72 road conference win at Erskine on Feb. 19 with 18 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal.
A sophomore guard from Columbia, North Carolina, Spencer finished Barton’s three wins last week averaging 14.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.7 steals per game. Spencer ended Barton’s 80-72 conference road win over Converse on Feb. 14 with four steals and two blocks to go along with 22 points, four rebounds and four assists. Spencer followed that performance up by posting 10 points, six rebounds and a block in a 76-70 road conference win at Francis Marion on Feb. 16. In Barton’s thrilling 69-68 league road win at King on Feb. 19, Spencer had three blocks and a steal along with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.
