Emmanuel, Barton Student-Athletes Qualify for NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Committee announced Wednesday the qualifiers for the 2022 NCAA DII men’s and women’s swimming and diving championships to be held March 9-12 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Conference Carolinas had four swimmers qualify, two alternates and several relays make the list.
 
Emmanuel led all conference institutions with three qualifiers, an alternate and three relays. Barton had one student-athlete qualify while Chowan had an alternate selected.
 
Thiago Rosa and Joao Santos will represent the Lions individually while Mykhailo Semenov is an alternate in the 100 backstroke. Rosa is seeded 10th in the 100 Freestyle with a “B” cut time of 43.39, he was also invited for the 100 Backstroke (23rd, 48.23) and the 50 Freestyle (30th, 20.11). Santos is seeded 10th in the 100 Breaststroke with a “B’ cut time of 53.57 and was also invited for the 50 Freestyle (24th, 20.00) and the 100 Freestyle (43rd, 44.71).
 
The Lions also have three eligible relays in the 400 Medley Relay, the 200 Freestyle Relay and the 400 Freestyle Relay. 
 
Natalie Hayes will represent Emmanuel in the women’s championship. She is seeded 19th in the 200 Butterfly with a “B” cut time of 2:03.23 while she is also invited for the 100 Butterfly (32nd, 55.84). 
 
Kleanza Cathers of Barton is the final qualifier for Conference Carolinas. She is seeded 18th in the 50 Freestyle with a “B” cut time of 23.17. She is also invited for the 100 Freestyle (52nd, 51.82). 

Chowan’s Ashley Mayes was also selected as an alternate in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 55.73.
