Jaleal Hamlett of Mount Olive Selected Men’s Indoor Track and Field Freshman of the Month for January
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Jaleal Hamlett of Mount Olive has been selected as the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Month for men’s indoor track and field for January.
A freshman from Lynchburg, Virginia, Hamlett ended the month with his best performance of the season at the VMI Winter Relays as he placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 14.50m (47-7) and fourth in the long jump with a mark of 6.63m (21-9). His triple jump distance is tops in the league and an NCAA Division II provisional mark, which ranks 31st in the country. His long jump mark is sixth in the conference.
In the month he tallied three top-5 finishes in the triple jump and a pair of top-10 finishes in the long jump.
