Joao Santos of Emmanuel Collects All-American Status at NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Joao Santos of Emmanuel secured All-America status in the 100 breaststroke finals at the 2022 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
 
Santos finished with a time of 54.03 to finish 16th. Emmanuel’s Natalie Hayes collected a new school record time in the 200 butterfly in finishing 19th in the Friday prelims. In the Thursday prelims, Hayes finished 25th in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.00.
 
Thiago Rosa of Emmanuel finished 26th overall in the 100 backstroke in the prelims on Friday with a time of 49.20.
 
The Emmanuel 400 medley relay team of Lukas Gorka, Santos, Semenov and Rosa collected an 18th place finish with a time of 3:16.09 one day earlier. The time bettered their Conference Carolinas championship time of 3:18.06. The Lions 200 freestyle relay team of Santos, Akopian, Semenov and Rosa finished 21st on the first day of nationals with a time of 1:21.97.
 
Conference Carolinas Co-Swimmer of the Year Kleanza Cathers of Barton finished 31st in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.68 on day one. Cathers will swim in the 100 freestyle on Saturday.
