Four Conference Carolinas Student-Athletes Earn All-American Honors on Final Day of NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships

RESULTS | PITTSBURG, Kan. – The final day of the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Robert W. Plaster Center on the campus of Pittsburg State saw three sprinters and a high jump student-athlete earn All-American honors for Conference Carolinas. 
 
On the track, Brian Sims Jr. and Sulaimane Bangura each earned the honors as they placed fifth and sixth respectively in the men’s 400m finals. Sims Jr. of Lees-McRae finished fourth in his heat with a career-best time of 47.28 while Bangura of Emmanuel was second in his heat with a time of 47.61. In the women’s 200m, Jharna Alston of Emmanuel earned her honors with an eighth-place time of 24.80.
 
In the field events, Orlandus Gamble earned All-American honors for UNC Pembroke in the men’s high jump as he cleared 2.08m (6-9.75) to finish sixth in the 16-person field. Zai Fraser of Lees-McRae rounded out the championship competition for Conference Carolinas as she placed 14th in the women’s triple jump with a mark of 12.06m (39-6.75). 
 
Conference Carolinas finishes the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships with five All-Americans as Moena Battle of Emmanuel earned the honors in the women’s high jump on Friday.
