Alden Cottle of Mount Olive Named NCBWA Southeast Region Player of the Week

WINGATE, N.C.- The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced on Tuesday that Mount Olive infielder Alden Cottle is the Southeast Region Player of the Week.

The Conference Carolinas Player of the Week, Cottle hit .571, slugged .929 and had a .625 on-base percentage. He drove in 11 runs and scored four times in a 3-1 week for the Trojans. In a weekend sweep of Chowan, Cottle went seven-for-13 with 10 RBIs and four runs scored. His best game came on March 12 as he went three-for-five with a double, two runs scored and four runs driven in. This is the second NCBWA Player of the Week honor for Conference Carolinas as Cory Bivins of North Greenville earned the honor on March 1. 

Joel Haney of USC Aiken was named the Southeast Region Pitcher of the Week.
