Rankings Update: Conference Carolinas Begins Spring in Strong Position Nationally and Regionally

GREENVILLE, S.C. – As the weather begins to turn to spring and the temperature begins to rise, so too do Conference Carolinas institutions in the rankings both nationally and regionally.

  • The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released the fifth regular season poll of the year and North Greenville was ranked 20th in the national poll with 90 points and ranked fifth in the Southeast Region rankings with 49 points. Mount Olive is seventh in the region with 47 points and UNC Pembroke is ninth with 18. Belmont Abbey also received votes in the region rankings. Collegiate Baseball also released their second regular season poll and North Greenville was ranked No. 12 with 95 points while Mount Olive received votes.   • On the lanes, the NCAA released the latest women’s bowling RPI on March 15 and Lincoln Memorial leads all Conference Carolinas programs in 22nd (.550). Tusculum is ranked 32nd with an RPI of .531 followed by Emmanuel (48th, .502) and Belmont Abbey (78th, .405). In the latest men’s bowling USBC rankings, Lincoln Memorial leads the league at No. 23 followed closely by Emmanuel in 29th. Belmont Abbey ranks 64th and Tusculum comes in at No. 76.   • The latest 2022 Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll was released on March 11 and Conference Carolinas had three programs mentioned, led by Barton at No. 20 with 11 points while Belmont Abbey (33 points) and Erskine (29) each received votes in the poll.   • The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA)/Dynamic 2022 Men’s Coaches Division II Poll was released for the week of March 14 and Mount Olive tied for 20th with Colorado Mesa with 28 points while Belmont Abbey (24 points) was the first team receiving votes. Inside Lacrosse also released its week 3 media poll and Mount Olive ranked 18th with three points. The USILA poll is available here while the Inside Lacrosse poll is here.

  • In women’s lacrosse, the Inside Lacrosse (IL) Women/Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II Poll was released on March 14 and Mount Olive represented Conference Carolinas ranked 25th with 26 points. 

  • The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) released its Division II Swimming & Diving Poll on March 4. The committee ranked the top 25 dual meet teams in the nation using all times achieved during the 2021-2022 season. This polls does not aim to predict the highest ranking teams in a championship format. Emmanuel finished the season ranked 18th in the men’s rankings with 56 points.   • The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released the second Division II Men’s ITA Collegiate Tennis National Team Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point. The rankings includes the top 50 teams from around the country as well as the top 75 singles and top 50 doubles. In the men’s team rankings, Barton was No. 16 with a computerized average of 35.442, Belmont Abbey was No. 23 (23.706), Francis Marion was No. 32 (18.267) and Mount Olive is 40th (13.169). 

    In the women’s singles rankings, Alejandra Guerrero of Emmanuel is ranked 68th and in the women’s doubles rankings the Erskine pair of Emma Bentz and Luize Valtere are ranked 47th.

  • On the track, the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the final Indoor Track & Field Rating Index (TFRI) and on the women’s side Emmanuel represented Conference Carolinas tied for 25th with four points while Lees-McRae, Emmanuel and UNC Pembroke were ranked on the men’s side. Lees-McRae finished 26th with four points while the Lions and Braves tied for 28th with three points each. The women’s rankings are available here while the men’s rankings are available here

  • In the latest Off the Block Division II Men’s Volleyball Coaches Poll released this week Mount Olive was ranked No. 6 with 34 points while King, Belmont Abbey and North Greenville each received votes. The Off the Block poll is available here.
