Shanika Peterkin of Barton Named to Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-America Team

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. Conference Carolinas Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year Shanika Peterkin has been selected to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2 CCA) Women’s Basketball All-America Team.

Peterkin has been selected to the D2 CCA All-America Third Team which was unveiled on Friday, March 18, 2022. This is the third consecutive season Peterkin has earned the honor. 

A senior center from Virginia Beach, Va., Peterkin led the Bulldogs to the Conference Carolinas regular season and tournament championship and a trip to the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball National Tournament. She finished the season as the conference leader in scoring and second in rebounds while ranking fifth in NCAA Division II in blocks and double-doubles (18). She averaged 18 points and 10.6 rebounds per game while shooting 53.1 percent from the field and 63.7 percent from the free-throw line. She also tallied 83 blocks and 53 steals on the season
