Conference Carolinas Unveils 2021-22 Women’s Basketball All-Conference Honors

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Conference Carolinas released its 2021-22 women's basketball awards ahead of the start of the 2022 Women's Basketball Championship on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.
 
The 2021-22 all-conference awards were chosen by the league's head coaches.
 
Senior Shanika Peterkin of Barton is the second player to be selected as a three-time Player of the Year and first player to ever be named a five-time Defensive Player of the Year and the only player in league history to win both honors in the same season, which she has done the past three campaigns. The 6-foot-2 center from Virginia Beach, Virginia currently leads the league in scoring (17.9) and is third in rebounds per game (10.7). She is second in Conference Carolinas in field goal percentage (.549) and leads the league in blocked shots with 74. 

In UNC Pembroke’s return to Conference Carolinas, Zaria Clark was named Freshman of the Year as she averaged 9.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per contest while shooting better than 41 percent from the field. The Stanley, North Carolina guard also collected 41 steals and dished out 45 assets on the season.
 
Barton head coach Wendee Saintsing was chosen as the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his career. She was also named Coach of the Year in 2003-04, 2009-10 and 2010-11.
