UNC Pembroke, Barton, Belmont Abbey Ranked in Final NCAA Southeast Region Polls

GREENVILLE, S.C. Conference Carolinas had three schools ranked in the third and final NCAA Southeast Region Men’s and Women’s Basketball Rankings, which were released by the NCAA on Wednesday. 
 
In the men’s poll, UNC Pembroke climbed two spots to No. 4 with a 25-2 overall record. The Braves finished the regular season 22-2 in league play and are riding a five-game win streak into the Conference Carolinas Men’s Basketball Championship this weekend as the top seed in the field. UNCP is ranked No. 8 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches poll and the D2SIDA poll. 
 
In the women’s NCAA Region rankings Barton climbed one spot to No. 6 while being the second-ranked team in the region in the latest Women’s Basketball Coaches Association poll and the D2SIDA poll. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 7 in the WBCA poll and No. 9 in the D2SIDA poll with an overall record of 26-1 and a league mark of 22-1. The No. 1 seed in the Conference Carolinas Women’s Basketball Championship has won 20 straight games. Belmont Abbey also jumped into the NCAA Southeast Region rankings at No. 10 with a 19-8 record. 
 
The rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA in the championship selection process and will continue to be released each week by the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Committee up to the NCAA Championship selections.
