GASTONIA, N.C. –  The top-seeded Lincoln Memorial men and women, second-seeded Emmanuel men and fifth-seeded Kentucky Wesleyan women each advanced to the 2022 Conference Carolinas/Great Midwest Men’s and Women’s Bowling Championships held at Liberty Lanes on Saturday. 
 
The women got the bowling started as the Railsplitters backed up their top seed by overcoming a 2-0 deficit to defeat third-seed Emmanuel, 4-2, to earn a spot in Sunday’s championship. Fifth-seed Kentucky Wesleyan got off to a fast start and swept No. 2 Tusculum 4-0 in an elimination game.
 
With a spot in the championship on the line, the Pioneers dropped the first game, but took the next three from the Lions and won game six, 189-171, to win the match 4-2 and advance to the championship match.
 
In the men’s bracket, Lincoln Memorial booked a ticket to the championship match with a 4-2 win over No. 2 Emmanuel with wins of 245-153 in game five and 243-195 in game six to seal the victory. The sixth-seeded Panthers went toe-to-toe with No. 4 Belmont Abbey and won in seven games, 4-3, with a 224-213 victory in the final game which came down to the 10th frame. Emmanuel bounced back from their earlier loss to claim the final spot in the championship game with a 4-1 victory over the Panthers. 
 
The women’s championship between Lincoln Memorial and Kentucky Wesleyan will begin at 8 a.m. on Sunday, March 27 while the men’s match between the Railsplitters and Emmanuel will get underway at noon. The championship will be determined using a best-of-three match format in the following order: five-person team match, baker total pinfall and a best-of-seven baker match play.
