John Michael Faile of North Greenville Named NCBWA Southeast Region Player of the Week
WINGATE, N.C. – John Michael Faile of North Greenville has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) NCAA Division II Southeast Region Player of the Week.
A redshirt junior catcher from Boiling Springs, South Carolina, Faile led the nationally fifth-ranked Crusaders to a 4-0 week record last week, which included a 12-2 win over No. 18 Lenoir-Rhyne. On the week, Faile hit .571 (8-for-14) with a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .556 on-base percentage while driving in eight runs and scoring three times. His best game of the week came against Lenoir-Rhyne as he went 2-for-4 with two home runs and five RBIs. He also finished 6-for-10 (.600) with three RBIs and a run scored in a conference sweep of Mount Olive.
Faile presently leads Conference Carolinas with 43 RBIs on the season. He is hitting .386 with 33 runs scored to go along with 15 extra-base hits on nine home runs and six doubles.
Catawba’s Greg Brown was chosen as the Southeast Region Pitcher of the Week.
