King Claims Inaugural Conference Carolinas Spirit Championship Crown

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – On Saturday morning inside Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium on the campus of Wofford College, six Conference Carolinas spirit teams competed in the inaugural Spirit Championship with King being named both Advanced Co-Ed Division and Grand Champion.
 
In the Advanced Co-Ed Division, the Tornado competed against Lees-McRae and Barton. King tallied a score of 84.50 with their best score coming in the jumps with a 9.0. Barton was second in the division with 81.83 points followed by the Bobcats with 74.67 points. 
 
The Grand Champion was determined by the team with the highest overall score, which was also King. Belmont Abbey, who competed in the Advanced All-Girl division, was runner-up with a score of 82.83 and Mount Olive placed third overall with a score of 82.67 in the Intermediate Co-Ed division. UNC Pembroke (Intermediate All-Girl) scored 82.58 to place fourth followed by Barton and Lees-McRae.
