Cassandra Lassiter of Mount Olive and Nikole Counts of King Collect Softball Weekly Awards
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Cassandra Lassiter of Mount Olive and
Nikole Counts of King have been named the weekly award winners for Conference Carolinas softball for the week ending March 6.
Lassiter was tabbed as the Player of the Week, while Counts was chosen as the Pitcher of the Week.
A graduate student from Pikeville, North Carolina, Lassiter finished Mount Olive’s four games last week hitting an incredibly impressive .750 (9-for-12) with seven RBIs and three runs scored. Lassister owned a slugging percentage of 1.083 and an on-base percentage of .769. She had two extra-base hits on the week on one double and one home run. She collected multiple hits in three of the four games, which included two three-hit games in Mount Olive’s two wins over Mercy.
Counts was strong in the circle this past week for King, pitching 20.0 innings and allowing her opponents to hit just .186 against her. The Clintwood, Virginia native had 16 strikeouts. Her best performance on the week came in picking up her first shutout victory of the season in a 4-0 win over Davis & Elkins. She allowed just two hits over seven innings in her seventh complete game of the season. In three starts in total, Lassiter owned a 1.35 ERA.
