Tyler Burns of Barton and Jon Wojcuich of Mount Olive Pick Up First Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Honors
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Tyler Burns of Barton and Jon Wojcuich of Mount Olive have been selected as the first weekly award winners for the 2022 Conference Carolinas outdoor track & field season.
Burns was tabbed as the Track Athlete of the Week, while Wojcuich picked up Field Athlete of the Week accolades.
A native of Wilson, North Carolina, Burns collected the best time in Conference Carolinas in the opening weekend of the outdoor season in finishing second in the 100 meters with a time of 11.08 at the UNCW Invitational. He also secured the second-best time and a third-place finish with a time of 21.95 in the 200 meters at the UNCW Invitational.
Wojcuich presently has the best mark in the country in the hammer with a mark of 59.27m (194' 5"). The Beulaville, North Carolina native finished first in the event at the UNCW Invitational and posted a school record in capturing the NCAA provisional and the top mark in NCAA Division II so far this outdoor season. Wojcuich also posted the second-best mark in Conference Carolinas in the shot put at 14.04m (46' 0.75"). Teammate Josh Faison secured the best mark at the UNCW Invitational at 16.21m (53' 2.25").
