Rankings Update: Conference Carolinas Holding Strong in Regional, National Rankings

GREENVILLE, S.C. – With spring conference championships getting underway, Conference Carolinas institutions continue to hold strong positions in regional and national polls.

  • The National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) unveiled the final championship rankings on April 11 and two Conference Carolinas institutions qualified for the National Championship Tournament in No. 6 Limestone and No. 8 Converse while King finished the season at No. 10.   • The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released the ninth regular season poll of the year and North Greenville improved five spots to No. 6 with 370 points while UNC Pembroke remained at No. 24 with 78 points. NGU also climbed one spot to No. 2 in the Southeast Region with 107 points and one first-place vote, two spots ahead of the Braves who are tied with Newberry for fourth with 73 points. Belmont Abbey improved to No. 8 in the region with 29 points while Francis Marion received votes. Collegiate Baseball also released their sixth regular season poll and North Greenville climbed two spots to No. 4 with 139 points while Belmont Abbey and UNC Pembroke each received votes.   • In the April 12 men’s Golfstat rankings Barton remained No. 17 with Belmont Abbey coming in at No. 20. In the men’s top-150 individual rankings, Samuel Trueba of King tops the league at No. 10 while Bryson Boyette of Barton was No. 13. Alberto Dominguez of Erskine was No. 15 followed by Brice Ballin of Mount Olive (58), Ben Loudermilk of Belmont Abbey (59), Laurenz Meifels of Erksine (76), Jack Warren of Belmont Abbey (107) and Muhammad Afif Mohd Fathi of Barton (138). In the women’s top-150 individual rankings, Georgia Page of UNC Pembroke represented the league at No. 113.   • In men’s lacrosse, the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA)/Dynamic 2022 Men’s Lacrosse Coaches Division II Poll released on April 11 had Belmont Abbey and Mount Olive receiving votes. The full poll is available here.

  • In women’s lacrosse, the Inside Lacrosse (IL) Women/Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II Poll was released on April 11 and Mount Olive received votes in the poll which is available here.

  • The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released the fourth Division II Men’s ITA Collegiate Tennis National Team Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point. The rankings include the top 50 teams from around the country as well as the top 75 singles and top 50 doubles. In the men’s team rankings, Belmont Abbey remained the top-ranked Conference Carolinas program at No. 25 with a rating of 27.069. Barton came in at No. 29 with a rating of 22.433 followed by Francis Marion (44th, 14.759), Mount Olive (49th, 12.895), Emmanuel (52nd, 11.463) and Converse (75th, 4.563). In the women’s team rankings, Mount Olive was ranked No. 63 with a rating of 10.043 while Francis Marion was No. 72 (6.378). The men’s rankings are here and the women’s rankings are here.  

  • On the track, the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the third Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index (TFRI) and Mount Olive was ranked No. 4 in the men’s Southeast Region Rating with 604.71 points. UNC Pembroke came in at No. 9 with 312.85 points, one spot ahead of Southern Wesleyan with 208.36 points. Belmont Abbey was No. 11 with 199.13 points followed by North Greenville (12th, 186.16), Emmanuel (15th, 143.16), Lees-McRae (18th, 131.84), King (21st, 73.84), Barton (22nd, 62.09), and Erskine (23rd, 45.98).

    The Trojans were second in the Southeast Region in the women’s TFRI with 668.94 points and they were joined in the top 10 by Southern Wesleyan at No. 6 (370.91), UNC Pembroke at No. 7 (308.04) and Belmont Abbey at No. 8 (279.41). North Greenville ranked 11th with 172.64 points followed by Emmanuel (17th, 157.38), Converse (18th, 147.70), Lees-McRae (20th, 129.26), Erskine (24th, 76.00), King (25th, 62.55), Barton (27th, 41.77) and Francis Marion (30th, 1.30).   • In the latest Off the Block Division II Men’s Volleyball Coaches Poll released this week Mount Olive remained No. 6 with 35 points while North Greenville held at No. 7 with 28 points. King also received votes. The Off the Block poll is available here.
