King, Francis Marion Ranked in First NCAA Softball Southeast Region Ranking
GREENVILLE, S.C. – King and Francis Marion represented Conference Carolinas in the first NCAA Southeast Region Softball Rankings, which were released by the NCAA on Wednesday.
King, which sits second by winning percentage in the current Conference Carolinas softball standings, was ranked fifth with a record of 31-15 overall and in the region. The Tornado are 12-6 in league play heading into today’s games and are hitting .312 as a team with a 3.58 ERA this season.
Francis Marion was ranked ninth in the region with an overall record of 25-16, all in-region games, with an 11-7 league mark which is tied for second in the loss column in the standings. The Patriots are hitting .286 as a team this season, but rank third in the conference with a 3.13 ERA.
The rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA in the championship selection process and will continue to be released each week by the NCAA Division II Softball Committee leading up to the NCAA Championship selections.
