Barton, King and Alberto Dominguez of Erskine to Represent Conference Carolinas at NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship

INDIANAPOLIS – Barton, King and Alberto Dominguez of Erskine will represent Conference Carolinas in the upcoming NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship.  
 
The NCAA announced the field of 80 teams and 32 individuals that will be competing in the regional competition of the 2022 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship on Friday, April 22.
 
The 2022 NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional will be contested May 5-7 at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta, Georgia. The regional will be hosted by Valdosta State.
 
King will be participating in its first-ever NCAA regional after claiming the automatic bid by winning the 2022 Conference Carolinas Men’s Golf Championship. Barton is returning to the NCAA regional as a team for the first time since 2013.
 
Dominguez enters the regional looking to defend his regional title from last spring. Dominguez carded a 7-under 209 (70-67-72) at the par-72, 7,139-yard setup at the Streamsong Resort in Bowling Green, Florida to capture top honors at the 2021 NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional and advance to the 2021 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship where he finished 22nd at the 7,051-yard, par 72 setup at the PGA National Resort Champion Course.
 
At a minimum, the top three teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each 2022 NCAA Division II regional will advance to the finals May 16-20 at TPC Michigan in Detroit, Michigan. The remaining eight team berths will be allocated based on the regions represented in the prior year’s head-to-head medal play portion of the championships, with the maximum number of teams from a given region capped at seven. The finals will be hosted by Wayne State (Michigan) and the Detroit Sports Commission.
