Conference Carolinas Well Represented on NCATA All-America, All-Academic Teams and Academic Honor Roll
EUGENE, Ore. - The National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) announced its 2022 All-America and All-Academic teams, as well as the Academic Honor Roll during a reveal on the association’s Twitter and Instagram, accounts on Monday, April 25 and several Conference Carolinas student-athletes were recognized.
Claire Guittard of King, Alyssa Loo of Converse and Brooke McAfee of Limestone were named to the 16-member all-American team. Guittard is a senior base/tumbler from Connelly Springs, North Carolina that helped lead the Tornado to the No. 2 seed in the Conference Carolinas Acrobatics and Tumbling Championship. Loo is also a senior and a base from Wesley Chapel, Florida who helped the Valkyries to the third seed in the tournament and a runner-up finish. McAfee, a senior base/tumbler from Chapin, South Carolina led the Saints to an undefeated regular season and the Conference Carolinas regular season and tournament championships.
The eight-member NCATA All-Academic Team featured eight different institutions represented. In order to be eligible for the team student-athletes must have a 3.30 grade-point average and provide significant contributions to the team’s success during the 2022 season. Josie McDevitt of Converse and Rylee Rossman of Limestone represented Conference Carolinas. McDevitt did so with a 3.95 GPA as an International Business major while Rossman has a 4.0 GPA in Elementary Education.
In addition, the NCATA also announced its 2022 Academic Honor Roll, which includes all active Acrobatics & Tumbling student-athletes with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher.
In all, 504 Acrobatics & Tumbling student-athletes, from 32 competing teams, were named to the NCATA Academic Honor Roll. Limestone led all institutions with 32 honorees while Converse had 19 and King had 18.
