Ben Gobbel of Belmont Abbey and Drew Moore of King Capture Conference Carolinas Baseball Weekly Honors
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Ben Gobbel of Belmont Abbey and Drew Moore of King have earned the weekly honors in Conference Carolinas baseball for the week ending April 24.
Gobbel was selected as the Player of the Week, while Moore earned Pitcher of the Week accolades.
A junior shortstop from Cumming, Georgia, Gobbel helped the Crusaders go 5-0 during the week as he finished the week 10-for-22 (.455) with five runs scored, 13 RBIs, three doubles, a triple, three home runs and two stolen bases. He opened the week going 3-for-4 with one run and four RBIs with a home run, a walk and a stolen base in a win over Anderson on April 19. In the conference series against Southern Wesleyan over the weekend he finished 6-for-13 with four runs scored and nine driven in with three doubles and a pair of home runs. He slugged an impressive 1.091 with an on-base percentage of .462 and did not commit an error on the week.
A 6-foot-2 senior left-handed pitcher from Virginia Beach, Virginia, Moore tossed six dominant innings in a 10-2 conference victory over Chowan on Saturday as he allowed just one hit and three walks with 11 strikeouts. In his scoreless outing he allowed the Hawks to hit a paltry .056 to improve to 7-3 on the season.
