Ayanna Manning of Converse Named NCATA Division II Freshman of the Year

EUGENE, Ore. - On Tuesday evening the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) announced its 2022 major awards via a social media reveal on the NCATA Instagram and Twitter accounts and Converse freshman Ayanna Manning was named NCATA Division II Freshman of the Year. 

Manning, a base and tumbler from Abingdon, Maryland, has been named the NCATA Division II Freshman of the Year after a standout season for Converse. Throughout her freshman campaign, Manning competed in 11 different heats for the Valkyries. As a base, she helped the Spartanburg, South Carolina program average a 9.78 in the compulsory pyramid, a 9.86 in the inversion pyramid and a 9.88 in the open pyramid. She also competed in all three toss heats, trio tumbling and open tumbling for Converse this season. Manning was a two-time NCATA freshman of the week, including week five and week 10 of the 2022 season. She was also named the 2022 Conference Carolinas Acrobatics and Tumbling Freshman of the Year and helped lead the Valkyries to a runner-up finish at the conference championship.
