SUMTER, S.C. – Eight Conference Carolinas men’s tennis and eight women’s tennis programs will descend on the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, South Carolina for the 2022 Conference Carolinas Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships which begin on Friday, April 29. 
 
The first round of the single-elimination tournament begins with the men at 9 a.m. on April 29 with No. 5 seed Francis Marion taking on No. 8 Southern Wesleyan on courts 1-4, 13 and 14 while No. 6 Converse and No. 7 North Greenville will compete on courts 5-10. The Patriots won the first-ever meeting against the Warriors 6-1 on April 22 while the Valkyries defeated the Crusaders in their inaugural season, 6-1 on April 2 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. 
 
The men’s quarterfinals will compete at 2 p.m. with No. 3 Mount Olive facing the Converse/North Greenville winner on courts 5-10 while No. 4 Emmanuel will take on the Francis Marion/Southern Wesleyan winner on courts 1-4, 13 and 14. 
 
After an undefeated conference regular season, top-seed Belmont Abbey will face the Emmanuel/Francis Marion/Southern Wesleyan winner in the semifinals on courts 3-6 and 8-9 at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 30. Also at 9 a.m., No. 2 Barton will face the Mount Olive/Converse/North Greenville winner in the second semifinal on courts 11-14 and 16-17. 
 
The women’s tournament will begin at 11 a.m. with No. 5 Barton vs. No. 8 Converse on courts 13-18 and No. 6 Lees-McRae facing No. 7 Belmont Abbey on courts 19-24. In the regular season, Barton defeated Converse 5-2 at home on March 26 and leads the all-time series 10-3. The Bobcats defeated the Crusaders on the road in league play, 6-1, on March 19 and the teams have split their 12 previous meetings. 
 
The women’s top seed and regular season champion, Mount Olive, also finished the league slate undefeated and will face the winner of Emmanuel/Barton/Converse on Saturday, April 30 in the semifinals at 2 p.m. on courts 3-6 and 8-9. The other semifinal will feature No. 2 seed Francis Marion versus the Erskine/Lees-McRae/Belmont Abbey winner on courts 11-14 and 16-17. 
 
The men’s championship will be contested on Sunday, May 1 at 9 a.m. with the women to follow at 1 p.m. unless all four teams in the finals are from different schools in which case the men’s and women’s championships will be played at 10 a.m.
