Deniz Aytun of King Selected Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Deniz Aytun of King was selected as the final Conference Carolinas women’s tennis Player of the Week for the 2021-22 season.
Aytun claims the award for the second time on the season as she bookends the women's tennis weekly honors on the year, winning the first honor on Oct. 20, 2021 and the last on April 27, 2022.
A freshman from Talavera de la Reina, Spain, Aytun picked up two wins at No. 1 singles last week over Chowan on April 22 and Barton on April 23. She secured a 6-3, 6-3 win over Micayah Porter of Chowan and a thrilling 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 win over Eimear Maher of Barton at No. 1 singles. She also partnered with Mishka Koricinova to collect a 6-1 win over Porter and Sreshta Puducheri of Chowan at No. 1 doubles.
