Conference Carolinas Unveils 2022 Men’s Lacrosse All-Conference Honors
GREENVILLE, S.C. - The 2022 Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse all-conference honors were released on Wednesday, April 27.
The all-conference awards were chosen by the league's head coaches.
Austin Hasen of Belmont Abbey was named Offensive Player of the Year after leading the Crusaders with 40 goals in 2022. A junior from Brampton, Ontario, Canada, Hasen finished the regular season fifth in points per game (4.08) and fourth in goals per game (3.08). He led the Crusaders with 53 points on 40 goals and 13 assists with 11 ground balls. Hasen is the first Belmont Abbey student-athlete to win the honor outright while three others were Co-Offensive Players of the Year.
Belmont Abbey took home both Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year as Thomas Sullivan earned the defensive honor. They are the first school since former member Limestone had a pair of outright winners in 2016. A sophomore goalie from North Babylon, New York, Sullivan led the league in saves per game (13.92) and save percentage (.599) and was second in goals against average (10.17). He helped the Crusaders to a perfect conference record and the program's first-ever outright regular season conference title.
Hayden Moffatt of North Greenville was named Freshman of the Year. The 5-foot-11 freshman attack from Airdrie, Alberta, Canada, is third on the Crusaders in points with 54 in 2022 on 38 goals and 16 assists. He also added 20 ground balls and three caused turnovers. He finished the regular season 13th in points per game (3.12) and 12th in goals per contest (2.24). He is the second straight freshman, and third overall, from NGU to win the award after Devin Napoli was honored in 2021.
Second-year head coach Josh Seese of Chowan was named the Coach of the Year after guiding the Hawks to the program's second-ever conference tournament and first since 2018. Chowan won the second-most games in program history and finished fifth in conference play in 2022. The Hawks scored the third-most goals in the league this season (195), led the league in points per game (23.14) and were second in goals per game (13.93). This is the first Coach of the Year honor for the program.
