SUMTER, S.C. - It was a history-making first day at the 2022 Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Championship at the Palmetto Tennis Center.

History was made on Friday when the Conference Carolinas men's teams got things started in the championship with sixth-seeded Converse securing a 5-2 victory over seventh-seeded North Greenville. The win was the inaugural Conference Carolinas Championship win for the first-year program.

In the other first round matchup, fifth-seeded Francis Marion also earned its historic first Conference Carolinas Championship victory with the Patriots collecting a 4-0 victory over eighth-seeded Southern Wesleyan. The program, in its first year in the league, was not done though with the Patriots later in the day upsetting fourth-seeded Emmanuel, 4-3, to advance to the semifinals at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Francis Marion will face off against top-seeded Belmont Abbey in the semifinal.

Third-seeded Mount Olive secured a spot in the semifinals as well after a 4-0 win in the quarterfinals on Friday against Converse. Mount Olive will battle rival and second-seeded Barton in the semifinals.
