Belmont Abbey, Mount Olive Advance to Conference Carolinas Men’s Tennis Championship Final for Second Straight Season

SUMTER, S.C. - Top seed Belmont Abbey and No. 3 seed Mount Olive will meet in the 2022 Conference Carolinas Men’s Tennis Championship Final on Sunday, May 1 after each won their semifinal match on Saturday, April 30 at the Palmetto Tennis Center. 
 
The two teams met in the championship final last season with Mount Olive winning 4-1. The Trojans are looking to repeat as tournament champions and win the program’s sixth title. The Abbey is seeking its first-ever tournament title after being the runner-up three times since 2017. Mount Olive leads the all-time series 13-2, but the Crusaders won the regular season meeting 4-3 on April 9. 
 
In the first semifinal, the Crusaders dispatched the upstart fourth-seeded Patriots, 4-1 before the Trojans downed second-seed Barton by the same score. 
 
Belmont Abbey won the doubles point with 6-1 and 6-2 wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, respectively. Liam Day earned a point for Francis Marion at No. 1 singles, but The Crusaders got wins at No. 2, No. 5, and No. 6 singles for the victory.
 
Mount Olive also won the doubles point as they won at the top two doubles positions. Diego Agudelo earned Barton a point at No. 2 singles, but the Trojans won at No. 1, No. 4 and No. 5 singles to earn the match win.
